Sporting career and what's next?
A good education is an essential condition to be able to arrange the life successfully after the sporting career. Nevertheless, the compatibility of studying and a top-class sport within the scope of a binary career planning is not always given on account of the basic conditions and the timing demands.
The TU Dortmund University is anxious to promote and enable a dual career according to the cooperation agreement with “Partnerhochschule des Spitzensports”/”partner university of the elite sport”. There a different services for athletes, who are e.g in the German national or in a regional team (A,B or C cadre).
The most important services are:
- Support and consulting service for the flexibilization of the study
- Free access to sports facilities for training purposes
- Support for the arrangement of competitions/training camps with must-attend events at the university
- We would be glad to advise you individually and support you within the scope of the cooperation agreement with “Partnerhochschule des Spitzensports”/”Partner University of the elite sport”
Partner University of the elite sport
To ease the balancing act for the athlete between studying and an elite sport, the general German university sport association adh initiated the project “partner university of the elite sport” in 1999. Within the scope of the cooperation agreement over 100 adh-partner universities provide a network for compensation of disadvantages for around 1200 students. The cooperation partners, normally the adh, universities, olympic training centers, Studierendenwerke (englische Bezeichnung?) and professional associations enable students to complete their education despite their time-consuming elite sport.
